My work explores interactions between people and their environments. My concerns are both ecological and anthropological in examining how one’s environment influences one’s perception, culture, and personality.
Ceramics as an art appeals to my sensibilities because it is such an ancient medium, yet also a constantly evolving form. My own work is both contemporary and grounded in artistic traditions to reflect this rich evolution of the medium.
My ceramics incorporate natural imagery from my native Illinois alongside imagery from my current home, Wyoming. Above all, my pieces are functional, handmade, and intimate objects. They are pieces rooted in a rich tradition, pieces that encourage viewers to consider their relationship between themselves and their larger environment.
